ABOUT THIS GROUP
We are especially interested in experimental writing and visual art here at The Surreal Circus. This includes (but is not limited to) surrealism, fantasy, magical realism, and stream-of-consciousness writing.
Please note that The Surreal Circus is a creative writing and art group. As such, we don't accept news articles, Skyword articles, documentary work, or essays (unless they are about the arts).
*We have recently decided to expand on the group content and accept various types of writing and photography. Feel free to share your work with our group, keeping in mind the group is still moderated.
Remember to check out the daily featured section on the home page.
Surreal art or writing usually includes one or more of the following:
1. A dream-like quality.
2. Bizarre or illogical juxtaposition of ideas or symbols.
3. Breakdown of logical thought.
4. Non-linear flow of time.
5. Symbols or archetypes that speak to our conscious as well as our unconscious minds.
6. A dark and/or ironic sense of humor.
