Jessica swerved a little to the right to avoid hitting the racoon that ran across the road. Her car tipped over on the rain soaked country winding road. It flipped over once over the embankment and landed in a ditch on its side six feet below. She lost consciousness on impact. Jack had no reason to stop his car as he was ten minutes behind her on the same winding road. Yet his inner instincts or gut reaction told him to do so. At ten o'clock that morning he pulled over and stopped his car. Jack peeked over at the ditch below and saw a car resting on its side, drivers side face down. He ran back to his vehicle and grabbed the cell phone from the empty passenger seat next to him. 911 was called as he waited twelve minutes for the police and ambulance to arrive. He followed it to the hospital just five miles away. A mild concussion was sustained by Jessica and a few superficial bruises. He waited there until she was treated and eventually released. The introduction by her doctor to the man who saved her brought a wide smile to her face. Tears ran both down their cheeks as a big hug was shared. Her luggage was retrieved and put in his car. Both were somewhat late in getting to their destination, but it finally happened. Adjustments were made as new rooms were set up for their previous reservation at the same hotel resort. The same room was shared as that was all that was available. I guess the destination was finally made, only not alone this time. It was booked over the next few years as Jessica and Jack became a couple. Eventually it became a place to go on their honeymoon. Maybe raccoons change the events of what is supposed to happen. Instincts and gut reactions helped out. Places to go have a way of finding something more than we expected. Case in point in a short love story with Jessica and Jack, on life's winding road....
