A coninuing experiment with Steampunk themes, this image portrays the power of our minds and how it can change the world; or at least out outlook. Shared with some poetry for your hopeful enjoyment.

 

"Aero Throttle's Brain Storm Atorium"

 

 

 

Sometimes I want a good brain washing

To purge the foul and sour that accumulates

Nagging dust bunnies and cobwebs annoying

Caught up in the crannies of my mind

I want a good soaking

In the beauty and awe of some existential thing

To loosen the detritus

And rinse away the gray

Leaving me fresh as a daisy

For at least a few hours; or a day

Oh my, you never fail to surprise with your incredible images Bill. What an interesting thought to be able to purge and start all over but what about the memories.

In an additional response to your question "what about the memories" I offer this simile. When I wash my car it is only the dirt and grime that are removed. The memories of the miles remain.

This is great Bill. I had to laugh about the "dust bunnies" ... LOL! I couldn't help but think about the old Frank Sinatra movie "Manchurian Candidate" .... brain washing at it's worst. I love the picture. Steampunk leaves itself open to wild wild worlds of imagination. I'm working on another one (steampunk story). It's hard to set a stage for a story and tell a story in a few short paragraphs and I do NOT do poetry. Your poem is great, dust bunnies in the brain and all.

Too bad ECT is the only easy way to achieve what you want! I suppose meditation might work in the longer term. I love the way the people coming out have heads that are a different color than their bodies-- they seem refreshed!

It's standard protocol to think of "brain washing" as a negative thing because we associate it with unwilling subjects being manipulated. In this context, however, the reference is to a self-applied form of brain washing and it is used for cleansing rather than programming.
