Priscilla confesses
she likes orange dresses
and purple socks
and to walk among
the tumbled rocks
of lava beaches
of Raratonga
in the wind
I warn ya
she’s a tough old soul
and she’ll tell you where to go
if you try to drag her around
by the nose
leave her be
nobody knows
what she’ll show us next
from her bag of sticks and tricks
but you can bet
she’s got a palm tree
in that pack
and a stack
of poems and a pen
to keep writing down
all the green and orange things
we need to look at
and a fan to keep cool
and whack you with
so don’t get fresh
unless you come
bearing mangoes
or papayas
for her plate
and don’t be late
get in line
if you want to dine
